Summertime 2011 at The Green Tea House brings refreshing daily teas such as French Lemon Ginger and Green Pomegranate Iced Tea, as well as special dinner offerings on Wednesday (cultural), Thursday (raw) and Friday (pizza) evenings. Their daily menu and nightly specials are dairy-free, gluten-free and organic. The downtown favorite offers over 60 teas (hot or iced), fresh juices and smoothies, and a takeout case for those on the go.
A sample of "Raw" Night might include Mediterranean cuisine, such as a delicious Creamy Red Pepper soup, Raw Falafel & Hummus Veggie Wraps, Raw brownies and more. The friendly, caring service and extensive menu of breakfast, lunch, tea, juices and smoothies are made fresh, gluten-free, dairy-free and organic. Executive Director Vickie Kelson sources over 60 varieties of high quality teas from around the world, offering teas authorized by Transfair USA to ensure fair working conditions, fair wages, and a better life for tea workers from eleven countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Their spring and summer menu features unique choices that will delight the senses such as the Mango Salsa Black Bean Burger served on herb sourdough bread or the Raw Almond Burger served on multigrain. Other favorites will include their Chipotle Red Bean Pocket grilled in a teff wrap (teff is an ancient grain native to Ethiopia boasting high fiber and iron, while low in cholesterol an glycemic index), and the Mock Tuna Wrap on collard greens. They even use a Pursonova Water Enhancement system to filter and energize the water used at the tea house, this oxygenating process increases cell rejuvenation and vitality.
Using local ingredients, composting, recycling, supporting local food banks, educating the community on heath and nutrition, and providing an evening space for community entertainment, education and meditation are efforts of the positive influence the Green Tea House exemplifies.
Several evenings a week the Green Tea House hosts live music, poetry, skits and meditation. Join them on the last Friday of the month from 7 - 10 p.m. for a relaxing evening of tea, desserts, wi-fi and live music!
