16th Annual Montana State Special Olympics
Event Dates

March 04, 2012 - March 06, 2012

Description of Event

This will be the 16th year that the Montana State Special Olympics Winter Games have been held at Whitefish Mountain Resort. The athletes train all year for this special event, and we expect hundreds of athletes. This is the best day on the mountain, no matter the weather. There is heartfelt joy for us all in watching people achieve goals set in life.

Athletes compete in various alpine and snowboard racing, snowshoeing, and Nordic skiing events. There will be an official Opening Ceremony in downtown Whitefish on March 4th, with a parade of athletes and incredible support from the local community.

Monday is the first day of competition, and serves as a qualifying round for Tuesday’s events. Tuesday is the Medal Rounds, closing ceremonies, and last day for Montana Special Olympics this winter.

We need hundreds of volunteers to help. Please contact Karen Kimball at 406-837-0319 or email her at dryfly@centurytel.net. For more information surrounding this fantastic week of events, go to www.somt.org.
